Some love stories feel like they were quietly unfolding long before either person realized it. Before I share details of Claudia and Brogan’s Notre Dame Basilica of the Sacred Heart & Dahnke Ballroom Wedding, I want to share a little history.
For Claudia and Brogan, that story began in the pews of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. Before they ever spoke, before a first date was planned, and before either knew where life would take them, Brogan noticed “the pretty girl from the Basilica” serving at Mass. Months later, a theology class, an extra credit assignment, and a little bit of God’s perfect timing brought them together.
Years later, they stood at the altar in that very same church, exchanging vows surrounded by family, friends, and the faith that had been woven into their relationship from the very beginning. Their Notre Dame Basilica of the Sacred Heart & Dahnke Ballroom Wedding was everything a summer Notre Dame wedding should be—timeless, joyful, deeply reverent, and overflowing with meaningful moments.
A Sweet and Elegant Morning Getting Ready
Claudia’s wedding morning perfectly reflected the style of the entire day.
Her heirloom-inspired details featured a beautiful palette of soft blues, crisp whites, and delicate touches of gold. A classic invitation suite accented with blue silk ribbon, a treasured rosary, embroidered handkerchief, and elegant rings all hinted at the meaningful celebration that was about to begin.
Her gown was effortlessly romantic, featuring delicate floral appliqué along the bodice with a flowing skirt that moved beautifully throughout the day. Paired with a cathedral-length veil, pearl jewelry, and timeless bridal styling, every detail felt classic without ever feeling overdone.
The bridesmaids complemented the look perfectly in soft light blue gowns while carrying bouquets filled with white roses, ranunculus, and pale blue hydrangeas. Together, the color palette felt fresh, feminine, and perfectly suited for a Summer Wedding at Notre Dame.
A Love Story That Began at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart
One of my favorite parts of Claudia and Brogan’s wedding is that Notre Dame wasn’t simply the backdrop for their wedding day. It was the beginning of their entire relationship.
At the beginning of their senior year, Brogan noticed Claudia serving as a Eucharistic minister during Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. He didn’t know her name, but he remembered the beautiful brunette he’d occasionally see around campus and wondered who she was.
As fate would have it, they both ended up in the same Nuptial Mystery theology course. The class included an infamous extra credit assignment: ask someone on a date and write about it afterward. With a little help from mutual friends, Brogan texted Claudia to ask if she’d like to grab coffee.
Before that date ever happened, however, they unexpectedly met at a Notre Dame football tailgate. Their mutual friends introduced them, and within moments Brogan found himself participating in some classic college tailgating antics. Somehow, Claudia still agreed to go on the date.
Their official first date lasted three hours over açaí bowls as they talked about everything from faith and family to country music and future dreams. As Claudia later recorded in a voice memo to her mom:
“Mom… he’s, like… perfect.”
That first date quickly grew into something much deeper. After graduation, they navigated long distance before both moving to Chicago, where they continued building a life together. Eventually, Brogan proposed on a Colorado mountaintop, bringing them one step closer to returning to the place where everything first began.
A Reverent Notre Dame Wedding Ceremony at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart
There are few places as breathtaking for a Catholic wedding ceremony as the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
With its soaring blue ceilings, intricate artwork, stained glass windows, and incredible architecture, every ceremony held inside the Basilica feels sacred and unforgettable. But for Claudia and Brogan, exchanging vows here carried an even deeper significance.
Years earlier, they had unknowingly crossed paths during Mass inside these same walls. Now they stood before God, surrounded by loved ones, promising one another a lifetime of faithful love within the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
One of my favorite things about photographing Catholic weddings is documenting the quiet moments just as much as the joyful celebrations. The exchanged glances during the readings, the reverence throughout the Eucharistic Prayer, and the peaceful moments of prayer that often become some of the most meaningful memories of the day.
Claudia and Brogan’s ceremony beautifully reflected everything they value: faith, family, joy, and a marriage centered on Christ.
Summer Wedding Portraits Around Notre Dame
Following the ceremony, we explored several of Notre Dame’s most iconic portrait locations.
Summer had the campus looking absolutely beautiful. Campus was overflowing with blooming white hydrangeas, the Grotto offered a peaceful stop for prayer and candle lighting, and the surrounding pathways provided the perfect setting for timeless portraits together.
The soft blue bridesmaid dresses looked stunning against Notre Dame’s historic stone architecture, while Claudia’s flowing cathedral veil and lace train added movement and elegance throughout their portraits.
Because their wedding day timeline was thoughtfully planned, we were able to visit several meaningful locations around campus while still giving the couple time to simply enjoy being together.

An Elegant Dahnke Ballroom Wedding Reception
The celebration continued inside Dahnke Ballroom, where timeless elegance carried seamlessly from ceremony to reception.
The ballroom’s soaring windows filled the space with beautiful natural light while the blue-and-white color palette continued throughout the reception design. Crisp white linens, classic floral centerpieces, candlelight, and custom blue napkins created an atmosphere that felt refined without ever feeling overly formal.
A custom monogram dance floor served as the centerpiece of the room, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable evening of dinner, heartfelt toasts, and dancing.
One of the highlights of the evening was Claudia and Brogan’s energetic first dance, complete with a joyful spin that had everyone in the room smiling. It perfectly reflected their relationship—fun, genuine, and completely full of life.
Claudia, Brogan, and the entire Parisi/Pivnicka families, thank you for allowing me to spend such a special day with you. It was such an honor to be there to capture so many beautiful memories. I will also continue to cheer you on and lift you up in prayers. I can’t wait to see all the amazing things this life will bring you!
