There is something undeniably timeless about a Summer Notre Dame Wedding. From the beauty of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart to the historic elegance of Palais Royale, Haley and Timothy planned a wedding day that blended classic architecture, meaningful Catholic traditions, and soft garden-inspired details.
Their story began in law school, where they met during orientation and shared every class their first semester. After Haley found the perfect excuse to ask Timothy for his notes, the two quickly became inseparable. Years later, Timothy proposed along the waterfront in New York City’s Battery Park before surprising Haley with both of their families waiting to celebrate.
Their wedding day was filled with elegant blue and ivory details, a beautiful summer afternoon on Notre Dame’s campus, and a joyful celebration with their family and friends.
A Morning Filled with Meaningful Moments
The morning began with timeless details, from Haley’s modern wedding gown and lace cathedral veil to the soft blue and ivory florals that carried throughout the day. Her bouquet featured classic roses and delicate blue accents, perfectly complementing the fresh, garden-inspired color palette.
Before the ceremony, Haley and Tim chose to share a private first look beneath the Law School arches at Notre Dame. The very place where their story first began. After meeting during law school orientation and spending their first semester together in every class, returning to the Law School for such a meaningful moment felt especially fitting.
There, the two exchanged private vows before making their way to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. It was a quiet opportunity to slow down, reflect on the journey that brought them together, and share a few moments alone before celebrating with all of their family and friends.
A Sacred Basilica of the Sacred Heart Wedding Ceremony
One of the greatest privileges of photographing weddings at Notre Dame is witnessing couples exchange vows inside the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. The soaring blue ceilings, incredible architecture, and rich Catholic tradition create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else.
Haley and Timothy’s ceremony was reverent and joy-filled, surrounded by family and friends as they celebrated together. Watching them process back down the aisle as husband and wife beneath the Basilica’s incredible architecture was one of the highlights of the day.
The exited the Basilica where their guests lined up to cheer them on with streamers. It was so fun to see how excited everyone was to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. And they opted to do the majority of their family photos outside, which I think makes for some of the best family portraits.
Summer Wedding Portraits Around Notre Dame
One of my favorite parts of any Summer Notre Dame Wedding is exploring campus for portraits. With so many iconic locations just minutes apart, couples are able to capture a wide variety of images without spending much of their wedding day traveling.
For Haley and Tim, portraits took us throughout campus, from the Law School arches where they shared their private first look and vows, to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the Golden Dome, and several of Notre Dame’s beautiful tree-lined walkways. The lush summer greenery and soft afternoon light provided the perfect backdrop for every part of the day.
The bridal party looked especially stunning against Notre Dame’s historic architecture. Haley’s bridesmaids wore soft blue dresses featuring a delicate white peony print, bringing a fresh garden-inspired feel to the day while beautifully complementing the ivory and white florals. Their bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, and seasonal blooms completed the timeless color palette and photographed beautifully throughout campus.
Haley’s cathedral-length lace veil added an elegant finishing touch to their portraits, creating beautiful movement and highlighting the classic, timeless style they envisioned for their wedding day.
Elegant Reception Details at Palais Royale
Following portraits around Notre Dame, guests made their way to the historic Palais Royale in downtown South Bend for an elegant evening celebration.
The reception design perfectly complemented the timeless style of the day. Soft blue and ivory florals paired beautifully with candlelight, gold accents, and blue-and-white patterned linens, creating a classic atmosphere throughout the ballroom. One of my favorite design elements was the escort card display, where seating assignments were displayed on blue chinoiserie-inspired plates layered among candles and delicate floral accents. It was a creative detail that tied the entire design together while adding a personalized touch for guests.
From the beautifully styled head table to the elegant floral centerpieces, every detail reflected Haley and Timothy’s vision of a classic summer wedding.
A Classic Reception at The Palais Royale
As the evening continued, the ballroom came alive with heartfelt toasts, laughter, and plenty of celebration. After sharing their first dance as husband and wife, Haley and Timothy enjoyed dinner surrounded by the people who had supported them throughout their journey—from meeting during law school to beginning this new chapter together.
The night concluded with cake cutting, dancing, and a joyful celebration inside one of South Bend’s most iconic reception venues, bringing a beautiful close to their timeless Summer Notre Dame Wedding.
