On February 28th, this couple exchanged vows in one of the most sacred spaces at Notre Dame. Afterward, they celebrated with family and friends at the elegant Smith Ballroom at the Morris Inn. Their classic black, white, and green celebration created a timeless aesthetic that perfectly complemented both venues.
Despite a windy February day, everything about Ashley and Patrick’s celebration felt relaxed and joyful. From the sacred ceremony at the Basilica to the elegant reception at the Smith Ballroom, every moment was filled with light-hearted joy and genuine emotion.
Their Love Story
Ashley and Patrick’s journey began on Hinge when they were both starting fresh chapters in Nashville. Ashley had recently moved from California, while Patrick had returned after living in New York City. However, their first date had to wait three weeks due to Ashley’s work travels. The anticipation was worth it. By their February wedding, they had been together for over two years.
Notre Dame holds special significance for the couple since Patrick attended graduate school there. Moreover, the campus became a meaningful place for them to visit together. Choosing the Basilica of the Sacred Heart for their ceremony made perfect sense.

Ashley and Patrick’s Catholic wedding in South Bend began with a beautiful ceremony at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. This stunning Gothic Revival church provided the perfect sacred setting for their marriage sacrament. The Basilica’s soaring ceilings, magnificent stained glass windows, and ornate details created an awe-inspiring atmosphere for Catholic wedding photography.
The February weather was surprisingly mild for South Bend. Although it was windy, the temperature was comfortable for the season. This allowed for beautiful outdoor photos on the Notre Dame campus without the bitter cold that often accompanies February weddings in Indiana.
The ceremony itself included sacred moments and traditional Catholic elements. Ashley looked radiant in her stunning Madi Lane gown from The White Magnolia. The high-neck design with intricate lace detailing and long sleeves created a timeless, elegant silhouette. The style was perfect for a February wedding and the sacred setting of the Basilica. Patrick looked handsome in his navy Indochino tux. Furthermore, their black, white, and green color palette showed beautifully in the navy bridesmaid dresses from Dessy Group and the stunning white and green florals by Poppies. The bridesmaids looked elegant in their matching navy gowns. They created a striking visual against the Gothic stonework and ornate details of the Basilica.
Reception at Smith Ballroom at the Morris Inn
Following their ceremony, Ashley and Patrick’s celebration continued at the Smith Ballroom at the Morris Inn. This elegant reception venue provided the perfect atmosphere for their classic and clean aesthetic. The Smith Ballroom’s sophisticated design, featuring stunning crystal chandeliers and warm ambient lighting, complemented their black, white, and green color scheme beautifully.

The reception tables looked elegant with crisp white linens, navy napkins, and lush white and green centerpieces. These centerpieces echoed Ashley’s beautiful bouquet. The Morris Inn wedding reception felt both grand and intimate. It created the ideal setting for celebrating with their loved ones.
Three Leaf Catering delivered exceptional cuisine and a beautiful wedding cake. The cake featured delicate white sugar flowers that perfectly matched the floral theme throughout the day. The menu perfectly complemented the elegant atmosphere of the Smith Ballroom. Meanwhile, the Bluewater Kings Band kept guests dancing throughout the evening. Their music created the perfect soundtrack for Ashley and Patrick’s celebration.
