Megan and Peter’s Notre Dame wedding day was a joy-filled celebration of love and commitment between the newlyweds. Their ceremony at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart evoked faith and tradition. Afterwards, guests partied the night away at the Embassy Suites, donning captain’s hats, heart-shaped glasses, and glow sticks. Having originally met in the dorms of ND, the couple’s Notre Dame wedding was a full-circle moment!
The Love Story
Megan and Peter first met freshman year in a tiny Siegfried Hall dorm room at Notre Dame. They shared a friend group through college but rarely spent time one-on-one. COVID led Peter to start hosting Zoom movie nights, which slowly became virtual dates between the two of them as attendance dropped off over time. They began officially dating after graduation despite moving to different cities for work. After two years of long distance, Peter finally moved to Chicago. Over a Memorial Day weekend trip, Peter surprised Megan with an impromptu stop at Notre Dame. During a stroll around the lakes, he dropped to one knee and popped the question. Megan said yes, but the surprises didn’t stop there: Peter had also arranged for Megan’s family to join the couple in celebrating their engagement!
Notre Dame Wedding Details
Megan was radiant in a traditional white wedding gown while Peter looked sharp in a deep blue suit. Also in shades of blue, the wedding party perfectly complemented the varying blues inside the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Reception tables were adorned in white and pale blue florals, and each had a “Table Captain” assigned by the newlyweds. The mission was simple: keep the conversation flowing and the party going! Given the joy radiating from the couple, this was an easy task to accomplish.
