As a former player for the Fighting Irish, there was no better wedding venue for Michael than Notre Dame Stadium. Michael and Jennie exchanged vows at the renowned Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Their joyful reception followed at the Downes Club on Notre Dame Stadium’s east side. Guests enjoyed stunning views of the campus where the couple’s love story began. At sunset, the bride and groom danced midfield and cozied up in the locker room for unforgettable wedding portraits. From beginning to end, theirs was a true Notre Dame wedding!
The Love Story
Michael isn’t the only one with Notre Dame football in his history. The couple met while Jennie was a student manager for the team and they became fast friends. Their feelings developed when they ran into each other at the library and, despite their best intentions to study, lost track of time talking for hours. Jennie & Michael became official shortly thereafter. During a bout of long-distance, Michael proposed while they were together celebrating Jennie’s birthday. He surprised her after dinner with a detour to her favorite lakefront view where he got down on one knee! The surprises didn’t end there though… the couple’s friends and family were waiting back at Michael’s house to congratulate the couple when they returned! With his carefully planned proposal now a cherished memory, the couple could shift focus to the wedding day.
Notre Dame Stadium Wedding Details
Jennie and Michael’s Notre Dame Stadium wedding was an elegant affair. The bride wore a flowing gown with delicate floral appliqué and a lace-trimmed veil. Her bridesmaids complemented her in pale blue floor-length dresses in a subtle variety of styles. Keeping with the theme, the groom matched his groomsmen in classic black tuxedos with timeless roses on their lapels. Inside the ballroom, bouquets of white florals nestled in greenery adorned the tables while bistro lights draped overhead. The couple partied the night away under the soft glow, surrounded by all of their favorite people.
