The Start of Something Special

In late August 2018, Kate and Mike attended a mutual friend’s birthday party where they met for the first time and had a short conversation. After running into each other several times over the next couple of weeks (and a follow on Instagram from Kate), Mike asked Kate to go to Siegfried Hall’s SYR (informally themed dance) with him. The “Rambler Rodeo” SYR was on September 21, which cemented “September” by Earth, Wind, & Fire as a song that is close to their hearts. Kate and Mike danced the whole night away together. Both so excited they had met someone who loved dancing as much as they did. Little did they know that evening that in just 4 short years they would be celebrating a June Wedding at The University of Notre Dame.

Over the next couple weeks, they hung out several more times, watching “Shrek,” getting coffee, and eating together at North Dining Hall. In October, they finally went on a real off-campus date and made their relationship official! One activity they enjoyed throughout their entire time at Notre Dame was going on walks together around the lakes. There is a Notre Dame tradition that says; “if a couple walks around the St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Lakes together while holding hands, then they will get married”. On Kate and Mike’s first walk together around the lakes one weeknight in October, without thinking about it, they held hands. And on Saturday in front of family and friends, that Notre Dame Tradition rang true while Kate and Mike said I do.

June Wedding at The University of Notre Dame

Kate and Mike’s June Wedding at The University of Notre Dame was an elegantly classic celebration of their love for each other. I am falling in love with the 11am wedding at The Basilica. Kate and Mike were able to spend most of their wedding day together, instead of waiting separately for the entire morning and afternoon. The nerves were gone once those Basilica doors opened and Kate saw Mike standing at the altar, eagerly awaiting her. I know I say this a lot but it was a truly perfect day. Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Breslin! It was an honor to be a part of your wedding day!
