Newfields had been on my list for a long time, so when Julie reached out about photographing her and Nick’s engagement session, I jumped at the chance to finally make it happen. They were coming from the Cincinnati area and I’m here in South Bend, so Indianapolis was the natural meeting point. And why not make the most of it and shoot at one of the most beautiful locations in the state?
Newfields absolutely lived up to everything I had heard about it. The gardens are stunning, the grounds give you so much variety to work with, and the light that evening was just gorgeous. It was packed with photographers when we arrived, which honestly tells you everything you need to know about how special this place is.
But more than the location, I just really loved being with these two. Julie and Nick have such an easy, genuine warmth with each other. There was nothing forced about any of it. They were just happy, and that comes through in every single frame.
Newfields is one of those spots I recommend without hesitation for couples who want something a little more lush and garden-forward for their engagement photos. If you’re anywhere between South Bend and Cincinnati and looking for a location that photographs beautifully in summer, put this one at the top of your list.
I had so much fun with Julie and Nick, and I know their August wedding was going to be absolutely beautiful.
