Tommy was in town last summer visiting Aly and her family for the week of 4th of July which is one of Aly’s favorite holidays because all their friends and family hang out at the lake. The 4th of July came and went and a couple days after Aly’s mom mentioned she had plans and Aly would have some time to do something with just her and Tommy, so Aly suggested they go to new Buffal and have dinner at, of course, The Stray Dog, and have a nice sunset walk on the lake. He agreed! Aly offered to drive to New Buffalo because she knew he had just drove all the way from Colorado and was going to be driving back soon, he didn’t argue against her driving. She knew something was a little strange on the drive up when he kept asking her to hold his hand, which isn’t like him. And then, she saw the ring box in his pocket, well she suspected it was, she didn’t say anything, but it clicked in her mind why he was a little extra lovey that evening.

When they got to The Stray Dog Aly wanted to put their name in because, well if you know anything about it you know theres ALWAYS a wait on a beautiful evening. Tommy kept insisting that he wasn’t hungry and they should just wait, but she put their names in anyways. They went down to the beach to walk around and Aly another sign that something was a little different. Tommy was s texting someone while they were walking, which isn’t like him, he is usually very present and rarely on his phone. But she shrugged it off. As they were walking, they got to a secluded part of the beach where he had conspired with my best friend McKenna and there were pictures of the two of them hanging up and rose petals on the ground and that’s when she knew what was happening. During his sweet speech she turned her head a little and made eye contact with McKenna, who was hiding in some tall grass taking pictures of it all (just like she knew she would be). He asked her to spend forever with him and she quickly said yes!

Afterwards they helped pack up all the “props” Aly turned and looked at him and asked “what’s the next surprise?” He smirked and she said “we aren’t going to Stay Dog are we?” Nope! They ended up going to Brewsters and her entire family, McKenna and Tommy’s Mom were waiting for them. Even though she kind of knew it was coming that night, as soon as she saw her mom, that’s when it really hit her, she was going to be marrying her best friend and the man of her dreams and the tears came. And all the time they had spent at Lewis College playing volleyball and hanging out with friends and separately came flooding back. And the planning began!

Ever since photographing their engagement session last year I have been SO EXCITED about their wedding day. And I am so happy that Aly and Tommy held off on postponing their wedding. They were able to push it just 1 day and still have the absolute wedding of their dreams. It was a beautiful one to be a part of and I am so blessed to have been a part of it. So excited to share this one with you all! My first full wedding back and it was a D.R.E.A.M!!! Congrats again Mr. and Mrs. Beckmann!
