There’s something special about a summer evening in South Bend. The flowers are in full bloom, the golden light lingers a little longer over the river. When Anna and Solu began planning their engagement session, they wanted a location that felt romantic, timeless, and full of natural beauty. I immediately knew exactly where to take them.
We started with Engagement Photos at Leeper Park in South Bend, Indiana. Leeper Park is one of my favorite locations for couples looking for a little bit of everything. From colorful perennial gardens and the historic fountain to quiet river views and shaded walking paths. Leeper Park offers incredible variety without ever leaving the park. We did decide to finish up at a second location andmade the short drive over to the beautiful gardens at Copshaholm. Which created an engagement gallery filled with two unique South Bend locations that perfectly complemented one another.

From the moment we started walking through the gardens, it was obvious how comfortable these two are together.
Some couples need a little time to settle in, but Anna and Solu spent the entire evening laughing, talking, and simply enjoying being together. You can just tell they find so much comfort in one another. And those are always my favorite sessions because they allow me to focus less on posing and more on capturing genuine moments.
As we continued exploring the park, we wandered through blooming coneflowers, along quiet walking paths, and down to the river overlook. Every stop gave us a completely different feel while still keeping the relaxed pace of the evening.
Besides the gorgeous gardens and St. Joe River views, Leeper Park’s historic fountain was my favorite backdrop all evening. As the sun began to set, the light danced through the water behind Anna and Solu, creating the most magical sparkle. If I have the choice, this is why I’ll take a sunny day over an overcast sky every single time.
South Bend really has so much to offer, you don’t have to travel far to find beautiful locations. You just have to know where to go, and when.
Finishing the Evening at the Copshaholm Gardens
To end their engagement session, we headed just a few minutes away to the beautiful gardens surrounding the historic Oliver Mansion.
While Leeper Park feels open and expansive, Copshaholm offers something completely different. The formal gardens, vine-covered pergolas, brick pathways, and beautifully maintained landscaping. Copshaholm creates an intimate setting that feels tucked away from the rest of the city. It is quiet and peaceful.
I love pairing these two locations because they complement each other so well. Couples get the iconic fountain, colorful gardens, and river views at Leeper Park before finishing in a more romantic garden setting that almost feels like a private estate.
Watching Anna and Solu wander through the gardens together as the sun dipped below the trees was the perfect way to end the evening. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful summer blooms created such a romantic backdrop, and some of my favorite images from the entire session happened during these final moments together.
